NAIROBI, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping's special envoy Wang Jiarui met with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday, after attending the inauguration ceremony of the Kenyan president in Nairobi on Tuesday.

Wang, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said the friendship between China and Kenya enjoys a long history, stressing that the political mutual trust has been increasingly enhanced in recent years.

He went on to say that the bilateral relations are at their best in history, with economic and trade cooperation becoming increasingly close and people-to-people exchange displaying many highlights.

Wang said China is willing to work with Kenya in implementing the fruits of the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, furthering cooperation on the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative, and continuously advancing the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

On his part, Kenyatta expressed thanks for China's abundant support and assistance for Kenya in developing its society and economy over the years, saying that Kenya is willing to work with China in advancing the major cooperation projects between the two nations, deepening cooperation on infrastructure construction, poverty reduction and improvement of people's livelihoods, and increasing exchanges on party and national governance.
