WASHINGTON, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- German logistics company DHL said Tuesday it has preordered 10 Tesla's newly-unveiled electric trucks Semi.
"The trucks will be used for shuttle runs and same-day customer deliveries, and will be tested for fuel efficiency on longer runs from major markets to other DHL operations across the country," DHL said in a statement.
Fleet operator J.B. Hunt and retailer giant Wal-Mart have also said they would buy the Tesla Semi.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk unveiled the Semi earlier this month, and promised the electric truck would hit the road in 2019.
Musk said Semi is capable of traveling 500 miles (800 km) on one charge and will cost less than a diesel semi in terms of fuel savings, lower maintenance and other factors. Enditem
