Turkmenistan hosts meeting of International Energy Charter Conference

ASHGABAT, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- The 28th meeting of the International Energy Charter Conference, an inter-governmental organization, opened here on Tuesday, with representatives from 49 member and observer countries, 12 international and regional organizations participating.

"The meeting is a good platform to discuss sustainable energy investment, reliable transit and diversification of supply routes in the community of the International Energy Charter," said M. Babayev, Chairman of the Energy Charter Conference at the welcoming ceremony.

He added that the election of Turkmenistan as the chairman of this organization is the proof of international acknowledgement of the initiatives from the President of Turkmenistan in the field of energy security.

The two-day meeting, titled "mobilizing investment for a sustainable energy future and diversified transportation routes," will also be scheduled to discuss the measures to overcome investment gap and helping the countries ensure the best use of investments for commercial and social purposes.
