LUSAKA, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Zambia Under-20 team has made the shortlist in the 2017 Confederation of African Football (CAF) awards, the country's soccer governing body announced on Tuesday.

The U-20 team, which won the Africa Cup of Nations title this year and went on to reach the quarter-finals of the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in South Korea, is the nominee of the Team of the Year award, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) said on its website.

Zambia's striker Patson Daka is the nominee of the Young Player of the Year award while referee Janny Sikazwe has been shortlisted for Referee of the Year award.

Andrew Kamanga, the soccer governing body's president, said, "It is a great honor for Zambia to see our ambassadors competing among the best on the African continent. The selection of our envoys on the various categories of the 2017 CAF awards epitomizes the rise of our game in the last year." Enditem
