From 2013 to 2016, the average density of PM2.5, a major gauge of air pollution, decreased 33 percent in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region in north China, decreased 31.3 percent in the Yangtze River Delta in east China, and decreased 31.9 percent in the Pearl River Delta in south China.
