Spanish treasury places 4.77 bln euros on market

The Spanish treasury placed treasury bonds with a value of 4.77 billion euros (5.3 billion U.S. dollars) on the market on Thursday, registering a demand of 7.74 billion euros.

A total of 1.62 billion euros worth of three-year bonds carried an average interest rate of -0.14 percent.

A further 1.26 billion euros worth of 10-year bonds that will mature in July 2026 fetched an average interest rate of 1.37 percent.

The placement also included 1.19 billion euros worth of 10-year bonds that will mature in April 2027 which carried an average interest rate of 1.55 percent.

The remaining 695 million euros worth of five-year bonds fetched an average interest rate of 0.77 percent.

The auction was the last of the month after the treasury placed 1.6 billion euros worth of three and nine-month treasury bills on Tuesday. The Spanish treasury will hold its next auction in June. Endit
