British shares down 0.89 pct Thursday

British stocks dropped on Thursday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.89 percent, or 67.05 points, to close at 7,436.42 points.

Burberry Group, a British luxury fashion company, soared 4.69 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Centrica and Merlin Entertainments increased by 3.88 percent and 1.97 percent, respectively.

A major gold mining business Randgold Resources was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.61 percent. The oil and gas company Royal Dutch Shell B dropped 2.40 percent. Mondi, an international packaging and paper group, fell 2.27 percent. Endit
