Airstrikes kill 10 militants in Afghan northern Kunduz province

Up to 10 militants including a group commander have been confirmed dead after Afghan security forces aircrafts targeted a Taliban hideout in Qala-e-Zal district of the northern Kunduz province early Thursday, district governor Mahboubullah Sayedi said.

The government forces aircrafts, according to the official, targeted Taliban hideout in Chargul Tapa locality Thursday morning, killing 10 insurgent including Taliban group commander Qari Nematullah on the spot and injuring several others.

Government forces after recapturing Qala-e-Zal district couple of days ago have launched cleanup operations to restore peace and security there.

Taliban militants who have increased activities since launching their so-called spring offensive late April are yet to make comment on the situation in the troubled district. Endit
