1st LD : 6 injured, 2 missing in gunpowder plant explosion in central Poland

A gunpowder factory in the city of Makolno, central Poland, exploded on Wednesday, leaving six people injured and two others missing, authorities and local media reported.

According to the fire department in Wroclaw, the wounded were workers of the plant and bystanders. They suffered minor injuries, mainly bruising.

The blast happened around 10 a.m. local time (0900 GMT). Spokesman of local fire department Jozef Koszalka said that the explosion caused collapse of a storey building, which buried two people.

Rescuers from the fire department are searching for the missing in the rubble. The cause of the blast is being investigated. Enditem
