Saudi gears up for series of summits in Riyadh with Trump

Saudi Arabia is read to receive the leaders of more than 56 countries to take part in two summits to in Riyadh with U.S. President Donald trump, Okaz local newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Trump is expected to arrive here on May 20 in his first foreign visit as a president, in which the invitees will attend the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)-US Summit, as well as the Arab, Islamic and US Summit in Riyadh.

These summits will discuss various topics, especially counterterrorism efforts.

Meanwhile the news report highlighted the drawing up of tight security plan to host the U.S. leaders and other leaders.

The GCC foreign ministers will hold meeting on Wednesday in Riyadh to discuss topics that will be reviewed at the summit.

Saudi Arabia launched on Tuesday an official website that includes information on the Saudi-US summit, the GCC-U.S. summit and the Arab-Islamic-U.S. summit.

And the website highlights the importance of the summits in promoting global security, deep-rooted economic partnerships and constructive political and cultural cooperation as well as consolidation of views to combat terrorism. Endit
