1,631 Moroccans join terror groups in Syria, Iraq since 2012

A total of 1631 Moroccans have joined terror groups in Syria and Iraq since 2012, local media reported on Saturday.

Citing statistics from interior ministry, Alyaoum24.com news site said 864 joined the Islamic State (IS) group.

The news site also said 284 women and 333 children were among the Moroccans joining terror groups.

Meanwhile, a total of 558 Moroccans have been killed in the fights, adding that 265 have returned to the country.

Only some 300 Moroccans are now actively fighting for the terror groups in Iraq and Syria, statistics showed. Endit
