Burkina rider wins the third int'l cycling race of Benin

The cyclist Salfo Bikienga from Burkina Faso on Friday won the third stage of the 14th international cycling race of Benin, Cycling federation of Benin said.

Salfo Bikienga finished the 115km long stage Bohicon-Ouidah in 2 hours, 39 minutes and 46 seconds, at an average cycling speed of 42.061 km per hour, the source disclosed.

The rider Bassirou Konte from Cote d' Ivoire came second while Aziz Nikiema from Burkina Faso ranked third.

However, Aziz Nikiema keep the yellow jersey that, on Thursday, he grasped from his fellow Mathias Sorgho after the second stage of the competition.

On Saturday, the riders will compete on the fourth stage which is the first criterion of 80 km in Porto-Novo, after a trans-shipment to the said city.

The contest kicked off on Wednesday in Parakou and is scheduled to close on May 14 in the economic capital Cotonou.

A total of 45 riders from Benin, Burkina-Faso, Togo, Cote d' Ivoire, Niger, DR Congo, Congo-Brazzaville and France, took part in the start of the five-stage competition. Endit
