British stocks rise 0.66 pct Friday

British shares rose on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.66 percent, or 48.76 points, to close at 7,435.39 points.

AstraZeneca, an international pharmaceutical company, soared 9.03 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. BT Group and Vodafone Group increased by 2.72 percent and 2.33 percent, respectively.

The British sub-prime lender Provident Financial was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.24 percent. The British pharmaceutical company Hikma Pharmaceuticals dropped 2.01 percent. Persimmon, a British housebuilding company, fell 1.87 percent. Endit
