1st LD Writethru: Air raids kill 8 militants, wound 10 in Afghan northern Kunduz province

Xinhua, May 12, 2017 Adjust font size:

A total of eight insurgents were killed and 10 others injured as the security forces aircrafts targeted Taliban hideouts in Qala-e-Zal district of the northern Kunduz province on Friday, a local official Mahboubullah Sayedi said.

"Acting upon intelligence reports, the government aircrafts targeted the enemies hideouts in Qala-e-Zal district today morning, killing eight rebels on the spot and injuring 10 others," Sayedi told Xinhua.

Taliban militants overrun Qala-e-Zal district last Friday and government forces since then target the insurgents' hideouts from the air and ground but the militants have yet to vacate the area.

Security officials in Kunduz, however, are hopeful to recapture Zala-e-Zal district and ensure government sovereignty in the area. Endit
