PSG defender Kurzawa out of season due to hernia operation

Xinhua, May 11, 2017 Adjust font size:

Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain left-back Layvin Kurzawa had surgery on a hernia on Thursday, ruling him out for the remainder of this season.

"Season over for me. I will have operation tomorrow on a hernia to come back stronger next season," he wrote on Twitter on Wednesday night.

The 24-year-old Kurzawa did not feature for PSG since April 9, when he was substituted in the first half in a 4-0 victory over Guingamp.

Kurzawa scored three goals for PSG in 26 games in all competitions this season.

He will miss PSG's remaining two league games, away to Saint-Etienne on Sunday and at home to Caen on May 20. PSG were on the brink of failing to defend the league title as they trailed leaders Monaco, who had one more game in hand, by three points. It was effectively a four-point gap considering Monaco's far superior goal difference than PSG.

Kurzawa will also be sidelined for PSG's another title defence as the team faces Angers in centennial French Cup final on May 27. Endit
