Pakistan hangs 4 more hardcore terrorists: army

Xinhua, May 11, 2017 Adjust font size:

Pakistan army said on Thursday that four more hardcore terrorists involved in committing heinous offences relating to terrorism have been executed.

It is the second execution of the terrorists in two days. Four terrorists were sent to gallows on Wednesday.

An army statement said the convicts were found guilty of killing of innocent civilians, destruction of educational institutions, attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan and law enforcement agencies and an airport in northwestern Swat valley.

The terrorists were hanged at Jail in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which has been the most affected province due to terrorism.

These convicts, who were the active members of the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, were tried by the military courts, a statement from the army's Inter-Services Public Relations said.

The convicts admitted their offences before the Magistrate and the trial court, the army said.

The executions have been increased after Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa signed execution orders of 30 hardcore terrorists last month.

The parliament recently extended the period of military courts for two more years after its two-year term was expired earlier this year.

The army courts were set up after the terrorist attack on an army school in December 2014 for the speedy trial of the terrorism-related accused. Endit
