Singapore stocks finished higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 21.14 points, or 0.65 percent, to close at 3,271.11.
A total of 2.12 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.88 billion Singapore dollars (1.34 billion U.S. dollars). Decliners outnumbered gainers 268 to 239.
The STI index gained 12.99 points, or 0.4 percent, to close at 3,249.97 on Tuesday.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market closed on Thursday up 0.51 percent compared to the previous trading day.
The Lao Securities Exchange composite index increased by 5.24 points to reach 1,037.22 points after closing.
A total of 190,300 shares worth about 537 million Lao kip (nearly 65,606 U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market.

HANOI -- The stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 89.9 points on Thursday, down 0.26 points or 0.29 percent against the previous trading session.
A total of over 46.958 million shares worth some 62.919 billion Vietnamese dong (some 21.9 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Thursday, a decrease of 34 percent in volume and 32 percent in value against the previous trading session.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed up 110.13 points, or 0.44 percent, to 25,125.55 points on Thursday.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 25,024.76 and 25,203.54. Turnover totaled 81.57 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 10.47 billion U.S. dollars).

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended higher on Thursday.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) advanced 26.25 points, or 1.16 percent, to settle at 2,296.37.
Trading volume stood at 452 million shares worth 7.6 trillion won (6.7 billion U.S. dollars).
South Korea's currency finished at 1,127.9 won against the greenback, up 7.9 won from the previous close.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Thursday, with the Nikkei edging towards the psychologically important 20,000 threshold, as exporter shares were buoyed by the yen's retreat against the U.S. dollar.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 61.46 points, or 0.31 percent, from Wednesday to close the day at 19,961.55.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, rose 1.67 points, or 0.11 percent, to end at 1,586.86.

SYDNEY -- The Australian market has finished marginally higher on Thursday, falling back after a strong start to trade.
At the close of trade, the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was up 2.90 points or 0.05 percent at 5,878.30, while the broader All Ordinaries index added 0.90 of a point or 0.02 percent at 5,912.00

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 724.99 points on Thursday, up 0.68 points or 0.09 percent against the previous trading day's closing session.
