S.Korean president re-organizes Blue House staff to focus on economy, security

Xinhua, May 11, 2017 Adjust font size:

South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Thursday re-organized the system of his office staff to focus on economic and security issues.

Under the re-organization plan, one ministerial-level secretary will be added to the current three such secretaries, according to the presidential Blue House.

The number of posts for the vice ministerial-level secretaries will be reduced from the current 10 to 8, but posts for two aides will be introduced.

Under the re-organized system, the ministerial-level presidential chief of staff will have five senior secretaries on political affairs, civil affairs, social reform, people communications and personnel affairs under his wing.

The name of the senior press secretary will be changed into senior secretary for people communications.

The ministerial-level chief of the policy office, which is newly introduced, will have three senior secretaries on job creation, economy and social reform as well as economic aide and science and technology aide under his wing.

Job creation is the top priority President Moon places for his management of state affairs. The newly-adopted job creation secretary will manage overall policies relevant to job creation.

The social reform and people communications secretaries will help President Moon achieve his goal of increased communications with people and social reform.

The science and technology aide will handle Moon's initiative to develop the so-called fourth industrial revolution of convergence in technologies as new growth engine.

The ministerial-level head of the national security office, top security advisor to President Moon, and the head of the presidential security service will be maintained.

The post for senior presidential secretary for foreign affairs and security will be removed, and the national security office chief will serve in the security and foreign affairs. Enditem
