A tomb dating back more than 1,400 years has been found in north China's Hebei Province.
The tomb, believed to be built during the Sui Dynasty (581-618 AD), was found in late March in Julu County, when an irrigation facility was under construction, according to the local cultural heritage protection bureau.
The chamber is 2.45 meters long, 2.3 meters wide and 2.5 meters high, with a brick-made arched roof. An epitaph, as well as eight burial artifacts, were found in the tomb.
"The discovery is significant for research into the social development, and funeral customs at the locality during the Sui and Tang dynasties," said Cui Rufang, head of the local cultural heritage protection bureau. Endi
