The following are news highlights in South African major media outlets on Wednesday.

-- Several protests over poor service delivery are currently underway in South Africa, including recent protest action in Laudium, Pretoria where a man attacked during the protest has died.

Police have advised motorists to use alternative routes or exercise caution when going into the area.(News24)

-- A shop has been set alight in Eldorado Park, Johannesburg on Wednesday morning as protests continue over housing in the area.

The violence has flared up again despite calls for calm and several arrests this week for public violence.(Eyewitness News)

-- Residents of Ennerdale, south of Johannesburg, are reported to have started blocking roads in parts of the area. The residents are demanding a meeting with Mayor Herman Mashaba.
