A record-setting 47.3 million visitors injected an all-time high 21.9 billion U.S. dollars into Los Angeles County's economy in 2016, Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board announced on Tuesday.
The new spending milestone is 1.3 billion U.S. dollars more than 2015's total, an increase of 6.3 percent.
Among the 47.3 million visitors, 40.3 million were domestic visitors and 7 million were foreigners.
Including the induced and indirect benefits, traveler spending generated 33.6 billion U.S. dollars in total economic impact for Los Angeles County. Tourism contributed more than 2.65 billion U.S. dollars in state and local tax revenues in 2016.

"These remarkable achievements mark a sixth straight year of industry milestones, reaffirming tourism as a powerful driver of economic growth for Los Angeles," said Ernest Wooden Jr., president & CEO of Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board.
