British stocks rise 0.57 pct Tuesday

British shares rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.57 percent, or 41.35 points, to close at 7,342.21 points.

Rolls-Royce Holdings, a British pre-eminent engineering company, soared 4.64 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. AstraZeneca and Glencore rose 2.28 percent and 2.27 percent, respectively.

The British software and information technology company Micro Focus International was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 5.65 percent. Automotive and aerospace components company GKN dropped 1.73 percent, while SSE, an energy company, fell 1.24 percent. Endit
