Indonesia eyes top position in Gothia Cup in China

Xinhua, May 8, 2017 Adjust font size:

Indonesia is gearing up its preparation for the coming Gothia Cup this year, hoping to win the youth soccer tournament in China.

A total of 23 young players in the team would conduct several warm-ups and receive special training in a camp in Banten province this week, said Subagia Suihan on Monday, a senior official of the Association of Indonesian Student Soccer League.

The Gothia Cup will run from August 13 to 17 in Shenyang, China.

Sungkono Abdullah, the Indonesian team manager, said he was very upbeat over the victory of the team in the competition.

"I hope this national team will be able to reach the highest achievement in the tournament in China," he said.

In 1980s, Indonesia had won twice the titles of student soccer tournaments in Asia. Endit
