Hong Kong stocks closed up 101.56 points, or 0.41 percent, to 24,577.91 points on Monday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 24,476.2 and 24,624.21. Turnover totaled 66.71 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 8.57 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed sharply higher Monday, with the benchmark Nikkei rising more than 2 percent on an upbeat market mood following Emmanuel Macron, a pro-European Union candidate, winning the French presidential election.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 450 points, or 2.31 percent, from last Tuesday to end the day at 19,895.70, marking its highest closing level since Dec. 3, 2015.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks finished higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 7.25 points, or 0.22 percent, to close at 3,236.98.

A total of 2.63 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.34 billion Singapore dollars (955.94 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered decliners 250 to 211.

MUMBAI -- The Indian markets closed flat with positive note Monday, driven by a rally in banks as well as cement stocks.

The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex closed at 29,926.15, 67.35 points or 0.23 percent up compared to its previous close at 29,858.80.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished lower on Monday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index down 2.38 points, or 0.7 percent, to close at 339.75.

A total of 26,261 shares worth 125.09 million riel (30,932 U.S. dollars) were traded.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 718.86 points on Monday, down 1.14 points, or 0.16 percent, against last Friday's closing session.

About 232.356 million shares worth 5.366 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (240.02 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 143 stocks went up, 127 stocks fell down, while 37 stocks remained unchanged.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 89.13 points on Monday, down 0.58 points or 0.65 percent against the previous trading session.

A total of over 44.639 million shares worth some 486.345 billion Vietnamese dong (some 21.52 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Monday, a decrease of 8.3 percent in volume and 3.5 percent in value against the previous trading session.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended higher on Monday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) surged 51.52 points, or 2.30 percent, to settle at 2,292.76. Trading volume stood at 277 million shares worth 6.5 trillion won (5.7 billion U.S. dollars).

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market closed on Wednesday down 1.60 percent compared to the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index decreased by 16.36 points to reach 1,007.44 points after closing. A total of 155,600 shares worth about 793 million Lao kip (nearly 96,950 U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Monday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,768.15 up 5.41 points or 0.31 percent, and the Emas was at 12,652.79 up 55.26 points or 0.44 percent.

JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares closed higher by 24.48 points, or 0.43 percent, to a level of 5,707.86 on Monday.

Some 323,295 transaction were booked, involving 8.6 billion copies of share with total value of 8.8 trillion rupiah (about 661 million U.S. Dollars). Endit
