Aussie dollar gains back some ground

Xinhua, May 8, 2017 Adjust font size:

The Australian dollar is higher against the greenback on Monday, with the U.S. currency falling despite receiving positive figures around jobs growth.

At the Asian market open 07:00 (AEST), the local unit was trading at 74.13 U.S. cents, up from 73.86 on Monday.

"The US dollar index closed 0.2% lower, at a level last seen in November," Westpac chief market strategist Imre Speizer said in a note to investors.

At 09:40 (AEST), the Australian dollar was buying 74.16 U.S. cents. Enditem
