China keeps perfect record against Senegal in women's basketball warm-up

Xinhua, May 7, 2017 Adjust font size:

Team China kept an all-win record in all three stops after defeating Senegal 93-67 in women' s basketball warm-up in Beijing on Sunday.

The guests took an early lead 4-2 before China stormed 12-0 in front of home audiences. Senegal scored 15 points in both first and second quarter but China had an 46-30 advantage at the end of the first half.

Senegal started the second half with three three-pointers to cut the deficit. The hosts made full use of their height in the paint to extend the lead to over 20 points, taking the victory 93-67.

This is the third and the last match of the warm-up after the host won the previous two 100-63 and 65-36 in Henan and Hebei Province of China.

"The team is improving in both defense and offense in detail in the three games," said China coach Xu Limin after the first three games he worked with the team. "However, I also see the immatureness of the team which will definitely causes trouble when we play with real strong opponents."

Sun Mengran led China with 17 points, rookie Li Yueru had double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds. Ndeye Sene contributed game-high 26 points for Senegal.

Team China will fly to Europe to play warm-ups with top teams in late May as part of their preparation for the upcoming Asian Cup in July. Endit
