At least 21 miners were killed and scores injured in a coal mine explosion in the northern Iranian province of Golestan on Wednesday, state TV reported.
Some 35 miner were trapped in the mine following the explosion, the Chief of Crisis Management of Golestan province, Sadegali Mogaddam told the state IRINN TV. (Iran-Explosion-Mine)

MOGADISHU -- Unknown gunmen shot dead Somali Minister of Public Works and Reconstruction Abbas Abdullahi Sheikh Siraji on Wednesday evening in the restive Mogadishu, police and government officials said.
Somali Minister of Information and National Guidance Abdurahman Omar Osman confirmed the killing, saying the deceased was killed close to the presidential palace by gunmen. (Somali-Gunmen-Siraji)

HOUSTON -- Two persons were killed Wednesday morning in a shooting at the North Lake College in Irving, a city in the northeastern part of U.S. state of Texas.
