Xinhua, May 2, 2017 Adjust font size:

French gas and power group Engie plans to slash about 1,900 jobs between 2016 and 2019 as part of the company's scheme to move its services offshore to low-cost countries, CGT trade union said on Tuesday.

"In order to improve its margin at the cost of social guarantees," Engie plans to relocate part of its customer business, including call centers to countries with low labor costs, notably in Morocco, Mauritius and Portugal, according to a statement from CGT.

The country's main union added that the jobs cut involved the company's energy business which employs 25,000 people. Endit
