ISLAMABAD -- A soldier was killed and two others wounded when unidentified militants ambushed an army convoy in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of Kurram Agency on Monday, local Urdu media reported.
The convoy was on a routine patrol when the militants opened fire at it in Yakhta area of Kurram Agency, a tribal area located along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the Dawn News said. (Pakistan-Militants-Attack)

SEOUL -- Five people were confirmed dead and several others wounded in a crane accident in southeastern South Korea, Yonhap news agency reported on Monday.
A tower crane and a goliath crane collided with each other at a shipyard in the southeastern port city of Geoje at about 2:50 p.m. local time (0550 GMT), firefighting authorities were quoted as saying.
With the collision, heavy structures carried by the cranes fell over people working at the shipyard that is owned by Samsung Heavy Industries, one of the country's top three shipbuilders. (S.Korea-Crane-Accident)

NEW DELHI -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday called for deepening economic relations between New Delhi and Ankara, and also invited Turkish businesses to invest in this country.

JALALABAD -- Some eight militants of the Islamic State (IS) group were killed after an unmanned U.S. plane fired a missile at a running vehicle in the eastern Afghan province of Nangarhar, the provincial government said Monday.
"The airstrike took place on Mano locality of Chaparhar province roughly at 2:00 p.m. local time Sunday and one vehicle was also destroyed by the raid," it said in a statement. (Afghanistan-IS-Raid) Endit
