Tokyo stocks rise in morning on solid domestic earnings, weaker yen

Tokyo stocks rose Monday morning as solid corporate earnings lifted the market mood, while the yens retreat against the U.S. dollar made exporter issues an attractive proposition.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 78.25 points, or 0.41 percent, from Friday to 19,274.99. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 4.01 points, or 0.26 percent, to 1,535.81.
Electric appliance, insurance and precision instrument-linked stocks comprised those that advanced the most by the morning break. Endit
