Algerian nationals living abroad on Saturday started casting vote as part of the Parliamentary Election due on May 4, APS news agency reported.

A total of 955,426 voters installed abroad are eligible to vote and elect their 8 representatives at the lower house of Parliament.

President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on Saturday urged Algerians established abroad to accomplish their voting duty in a bid to elect their representatives at the lower house who would have the noble mission to deepen democracy and the rule of law in this North African nation.

The Diaspora is represented by 8 members of parliament from 4 geographical zones all over the world.

Given that the majority of Algerian nationals are established in France, which includes two zones, they are represented by 4 MPs, while one MP represents zone III which includes the diplomatic districts of MENA region, Africa and Asia-Oceania, while zone VI is made up of the diplomatic and consular districts of America and the rest of Europe.

Ministry of Interior said the voters abroad are due to accomplish their duty in 61 voting centres and 390 polling stations, adding that elections run between April 29-30 and May 4. Endit
