Yellow alert issued as strong winds hit BiH

Xinhua, April 27, 2017 Adjust font size:

Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) issued a yellow alert for the majority of the country on Thursday due to the possibility of strong winds, Federal Hydrometeorological Institute (FHMZ) reported on Thursday.

Throughout the country, a yellow meteoalarm was issued due to strong winds blowing at 40 to 60 km per hour with an expected rainfall between 30 and 60 liters per square meter.

Strong winds with storm strikes are expected until Friday evening, with heavy rainfall in the west of BiH, which will strengthen during the night in the central and eastern areas of the country, said FHMZ.

Especially strong winds of 65 km per hour are currently blowing on Bjelasnica mountain, 25 km southwest of Sarajevo.

As a spring snowstorm hit most of BiH last week after a previous warm weather giving favorite conditions to plants and trees blooming, severe wind is causing additional concern, especially for farmers. Endit
