Lin and Lee into quarterfinals at Badminton Asia Championships

Badminton superstar Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei came closer to their semifinal-clash as both of them moved into the men's singles quarterfinals at the Badminton Asia Championships here on Thursday.

China's Lin and Malaysia's Lee claimed straight sets victories today, as did another two Chinese contenders Chen Long and Shi Yuqi. If Lin and Lee can sail past Friday's quarterfinals, the pair will meet with each other for another classic clash.

Women's singles qualifier Lee Jang Mi of South Korea continued to make big upset. Lee, who beat Japan's Nozomi Okuhara yesterday, fought off No.5 seed Sun Yu of China 21-16, 11-21, 21-19.

Third seed Sung Ji Hyun of South Korea also fell at the hands of Thailand's Nitchaon Jindapol 21-16, 21-18.

In men's doubles, Rio Olympic gold medalists Zhang Nan and Fu Haifeng - back together for the first time since August last year - entered the quarterfinals with a comfortable victory. Endit
