1st LD: Syria confirms Israeli attack near Damascus int'l airport

Xinhua, April 27, 2017 Adjust font size:

The Syrian army confirmed that Israel missile fire targeted a Syrian military position near the international airport of the capital Damascus earlier on Thursday, according to the state TV.

Israel fired several missiles from inside the occupied territory against one of the military positions southwest of the Damascus airport, causing fire and several explosions in the targeted site, which left damages, the report quoted Syrian army as saying.

This attack, the army statement continued, comes as a desperate attempt to lift the morale of the terrorist groups.

It added that the attack will not dissuade the Syrian army from continuing its war on terror.

It's not the first Israeli strike, as the Israelis have ramped up their airstrikes on military positions in Syria recently, targeting military base in Qunaitera province in southern Syria this week, as well as a military position near the ancient city of Palmyra last month. Enditem
