Airstrike kills 12 PKK militants in Iraq and SE Turkey

A total of 12 militants of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) were killed in north Iraq and southeast Turkey by Turkish airstrike on Wednesday, according to Turkish military sources.
In a statement, Turkish General Staff said six PKK militants were killed in Iraq's Zap region during an air operation on Wednesday.
Another six PKK militants were killed in another air operation in Turkish southeastern Hakkari province's Cukurca district, Anadolu Agency cited from an official saying on condition of anonymity.
The latest death toll brings the number of PKK terrorists killed in the Turkey's southeast since Tuesday to 17.
Turkish warplanes on Tuesday conducted heavy air raids against PKK and the People's Protection Units (YPG) targets in Iraq's Sinjar and northern Syria, in which around 70 militants were killed, while shelters, arsenals and communication centers belonging to the militants were destroyed.
Founded in 1978, the PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the Europe Union, resumed its armed campaign in July 2015 after a brief reconciliation. Endit
