Zambia's agritech expo attracts 200 exhibitors

Xinhua, April 25, 2017 Adjust font size:

About 200 local and international exhibitors have confirmed participation at this year's Zambia Agritech Expo, the nation's major agricultural trade expo which provides a platform for farmers to network, organizers said on Tuesday.

This year's expo, which runs from April 27 to 29 in central Zambia's Chisamba district, will also unveil latest agricultural technologies and solutions, according to the Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU), an umbrella body of farmers and the main organizer of the event.

According to the organizers, this year's event will see the unveiling of 21 crop trials where among other things, crop yields will be compared and agro chemical trials conducted live. The event will also see 18 knowledge-packed workshops and provide a platform for international exhibitors to showcase their agricultural technologies.

Calvin Kaleyi, the ZNFU spokesperson said this year's event will also highlight the importance of diversification in the agricultural sector as it will help policy makers renew their efforts towards embracing diversification in the sector.

"This Business to Business agricultural platform is expected to help visitors and exhibitors alike to grow their businesses and increase profits and also create networks with industry professionals and new business and service suppliers," he said.

The event will be officially opened by Zambian President Edgar Lungu, he added.

The first expo was held in 2014. Endit
