China on Tuesday handed over 6,004 pieces of farm machinery and agricultural equipment to Bangladesh's Ministry of Agriculture under a grant aid program to help the country modernize its agriculture sector.

ISLAMABAD -- The European Union (EU) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Tuesday launched a three-year technical assistance program to strengthen the criminal justice response in Pakistan to counter terrorism, officials said.
The EU and UNODC officials said the Pakistan Action to Counter Terrorism (PACT) program, which was launched at a ceremony in Islamabad, is aimed at supporting the efforts of government of Pakistan to counter the threats of terrorism. (Pakistan-EU-Assistance)

COLOMBO -- More than 50 young parliamentarians from Asia-Pacific countries gathered in Sri Lanka on Tuesday for a two-day meeting to discuss their role in advancing an inclusive and peaceful society and preventing violent extremism in the region.
A statement by the UN Office in Colombo said the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the Parliament of Sri Lanka, and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) jointly convened the Regional Meeting of Young Parliamentarians of the Asia-Pacific region to engage on preventing violent extremism. RASUWA, Nepal -- Marking the second anniversary of the 2015 devastating earthquake, Nepal on Tuesday organized the International Langtang Marathon 2017.

BANGKOK -- The cremation ceremony for late King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand has been scheduled for Oct. 26, said Athisit Chainuwat, assistant government spokesperson on Tuesday.
The royal ceremony for the late king, according to the Thai government's official website, will be held from Oct. 25 till Oct. 29 with the cremation scheduled for Oct. 26. (Thailand-Late King) Endit
