Tokyo stocks advance in morning tracking overnight gains on Wall St.

Tokyo stocks advanced Tuesday morning as the market mood was buoyed by U.S. shares rising overnight and on prospects for earnings season this week.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 158.86 points, or 0.84 percent, from Monday to 19,034.74.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 13.61 points, or 0.91 percent, to 1,516.80.

Iron and steel, securities and insurance-related stocks advanced the most by the morning break. Endit
