The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Monday.

-- Zambian President Edgar Lungu has expressed concern over the tendency by some citizens to depend on government for anything.

Lungu said he was concerned over the trend of only looking to the government and urged citizens to take responsibilities. (Times of Zambia)

-- Turkish investments into Zambia have reached around 40 million U.S. dollars in the last two years as the two countries continue to solidify their cooperation.

Zambian Turkish Business Association president Izzet Ugur said the investments were mainly in the real state and agriculture sectors and that about 30 Turkish firms have invested in the country in the last two year. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- A team of experts in fire accidents from the International Institute of Certified Forensic Investigation Professional is being assembled to investigate a spate of fires on public buildings in Zambia.

Gibson Mwewa, country director of the investigations agency said the organization was willing to offer forensic advice and investigations to professionally trace perpetrators of the crime. (Daily Nation)

-- A southern African lobby group has questioned the silence of leaders in the region on the political situation in Zambia following the arrest of the country's leading opposition leader who has been charged with treason.
