Burkina Faso to control information amid security threats

Xinhua, April 22, 2017 Adjust font size:

Burkina Faso's High Council for Communication on Friday launched a program to control information at times of crisis in the jihadist attack-prone country.

"The current security challenges have made complex information functions, causing further strain in the daily practice of journalism," the country's regulatory authority of communication said in a press release.

The program titled "Media and Security" is to be applied when there is an upsurge of terrorism in the country, especially in the northern region on the borders with Mali and Niger.

Burkina Faso has witnessed a series of terrorist attacks over the past few years. Over 70 people have lost their lives in terrorist attacks since 2015, according to official figures. Endi
