The following are news highlights in Kenya's major media outlets on Saturday.

-- President Uhuru Kenyatta's ruling party Jubilee cancels its primaries that had been called on Friday following chaos and outrage due to poor organisation. The primaries which were to be conducted across the country were marred with shortage and late arrival of voting materials, claims of rigging and violence highlighting challenges political parties are going through in Kenya ahead of Aug. 8 elections. The party is expected to announce Saturday a new date for the exercise as time runs out. (Saturday Nation)

-- Kenyan banks lay off more staff as they shift services to digital platforms amid shrinking revenue occasioned by a law capping interest rates. Over 1,000 employees have been laid off in the last one year. (Standard on Saturday)
