China and Russia should further strengthen strategic cooperation and play a constructive role in maintaining world peace and stability as well as in seeking political settlement for international hot issues, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said here Friday.
Hailing the close coordination and cooperation between Beijing and Moscow on international and regional issues, Wang, in a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, also noted that China, at the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Executive Council meeting on Thursday, supported Russia's proposal to investigate the chemical weapons attack in Idlib, Syria, earlier this month. PARIS -- French Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve on Friday morning called for "responsibility and dignity" in the aftermath of an attack on police officers in central Paris, which left one dead and two seriously wounded.

CARACAS -- Violent anti-government protests in Venezuela's capital and 14 other states have left three people dead and 62 injured, the Public Prosecutor's Office said on Thursday.
The victims included Paola Andreina Ramirez Gomez, 23, who was apparently shot in the head in western Tachira state; a 17-year-old man killed in Caracas during a demonstration he was not taking part in; and Niumar Jose San Clemente Barrios, a member of the Bolivarian National Guard, who died of a gunshot in northern Miranda state. MOSCOW -- An employee of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) and a civilian were killed Friday in a shooting attack on the FSB office in Russia's Far Eastern city of Khabarovsk, said the FSB.
It said in a statement that a man, later identified as an 18-year-old local resident A. Konev, entered the office and started shooting at people in the waiting room, killing two and wounding another. (Russia-FSB-Attack)

PYONGYANG -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Friday sent a delegation of diplomats to visit some Arab countries amid mounting international sanctions clamped on it due to its missile and nuclear tests.
