-- A former member of the South African National Defence Force has been apprehended for last week's heist at the 9 South African Infantry Battalion Base in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, Western Cape police confirmed on Thursday.

The 40-year-old man has been taken in for questioning in connection with the Good Friday robbery, which resulted in six rifles being stolen while soldiers were held up at the base.(News24)

-- South Africans are the second wealthiest people in Africa, according to a new report by AfrAsia Bank and New World Wealth, which reviewed the wealthiest and poorest countries on the continent.

The average wealth of a person living in SA (wealth per capita) was 11, 300 U.S. dollars (about R149, 000) in 2016, up from 10,800 dollars in 2015. (Fin24)
