Nigeria's ruling party postpones key meetings

Xinhua, April 20, 2017 Adjust font size:

Nigeria's National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings scheduled for April 24 and 25 have been postponed, spokesperson of the ruling party All Progressives Congress (APC) said Thursday.

The postponement was due to unexpected developments, noting that new dates for the meetings would be announced in due course, APC Spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi said.

John Odigie-Oyegun, the APC's National Chairman, had on Jan. 25, 2017, constituted a 10-member committee to review the party's Constitution.

The committee was expected to review the constitution ahead of the party's non-elective National Convention expected to be held in April.

The decision to review the party's constitution was taken at its last NEC meeting.

The review was to address issues involving discipline and membership. Endit
