Two Afghan army soldiers and one civilian were killed in a roadside bomb blast in the country's northern province of Badakhshan on Thursday, local police said.

"An army vehicle running in Pul-e-Yardar area of Baharak District touched off a roadside bomb in the morning. Two army soldiers aboard the vehicle and one civilian passerby were martyred after the explosion," Mohammad Nabi Bayan, deputy provincial police chief, told Xinhua.

The police official added that two troopers were also wounded and the army vehicle was destroyed.

He blamed Taliban militant group for the attack in the province, 315 km northeast of Kabul.

The Taliban insurgency has been on the rampage since the beginning of 2015 when the Afghan security forces assumed full responsibilities of security from the U.S. and NATO troops. Endit
