German shares edge up Wednesday

German shares edged up slightly on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index up 16.01 points, or 0.13 percent, to close at 12,016.45 points.

Commerzbank gained the most among the blue chips by jumping 4.45 percent, followed by German airlines Lufthansa and industry giant Thyssenkrupp, which rose 4.22 percent and 2.68 percent respectively.

ProSiebenSat.1, E.ON, and BASF were the top three losers, whose shares dropped 2.88 percent, 1.06 percent and 0.87 percent respectively.

Volkswagen was the most-traded share of the day with a turnover of 241.40 million euros (258.60 million U.S. dollars). Endit
