The fifth installment of the Hollywood live-action Transformers film series, "Transformers: The Last Knight," will hit the world's screens this summer, its producer Paramount Pictures announced Wednesday.
"There will be grand celebrations to mark the 10th anniversary of the Transformers franchise in southern China's Guangzhou city this summer," said chairman of Paramount Pictures Jim Gianopulos during the Beijing International Film Festival.
"Transformers: The Last Knight" is a sequel to 2014's "Transformers: Age of Extinction," whose 1.98 billion yuan earnings (288 million U.S. dollars) in China topped the country's box office that year.
This summer, Cade Yeager, played by Mark Wahlberg, will team up with the Dinobots to solve problems, while Optimus Prime searches for Quintessons and fights against Unicron.
Michael Bay was the director of all five movies in the series, based on the toys created by Hasbro and Tomy in the 1980s.
The week-long Beijing International Film Festival started April 16, showing nearly 500 movies in 30 cinemas across the city. Endi
