Iran, Russia agree to cooperate in aquaculture

Xinhua, April 18, 2017 Adjust font size:

Iran and Russia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) here on Tuesday to cooperate in aquaculture industry, Tehran Times daily reported.

The MoU was signed by Hassan Salehi, the head of Iran's Fisheries Organization, and Vasily Sokolov, the deputy head of Russia's Federal Agency for Fishery.

Iran and Russia will cooperate for trade and research activities in aquaculture, and given the large market in Russia, the ground is prepared for boosting fish exports to the neighboring country, Salehi was quoted as saying.

Also, it was agreed that the two sides will lay the ground for imports of fish from Russia, the official added.

Iran will attend the first Russian Fisheries Forum and Seafood Expo Global, which will be held in St. Petersburg in September, and Russia will participate in Iran's International Fisheries and Seafood Industry Exhibition to be held in Iran on Oct. 23-Nov. 21, Salehi announced.

Sokolov hailed the "fruitful" negotiations between the two sides for the expansion of trade and research ties, saying Iran and Russia will exchange experiences in related fields. Endit
