Dutch league leaders Feyenoord and second ranked Ajax booked a victory in the Eredivisie on Sunday.

Feyenoord defeated FC Utrecht 2-0 in Rotterdam. Jens Toornstra broke the deadlock in the second half and Eljero Elia decided the match with a magnificent shot ten minutes from time.

Ajax came behind against sc Heerenveen in Amsterdam through a goal by Reza Goochannejhad, but the home-team bounced back to win 5-1. Nick Viergever, Matthijs de Ligt, Davy Klaassen, Kasper Dolberg and David Neres scored.

On Saturday PSV dropped points at ADO Den Haag (1-1). Davy Propper handed reigning champions PSV the lead in a good first half, but the visitors failed to extend the lead and ADO equalized three minutes from time. Mike Havenaar headed in after PSV goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet stopped a shot by Aaron Meijers.

Feyenoord now lead the table with 76 points from 31 matches, followed by Ajax (75) and PSV (69). The Rotterdam based team, which became champions for the last time in 1999, will play Vitesse (away), Excelsior (away) and Heracles Almelo (home) in the final three match rounds, while Ajax await a heavy task against PSV (away), Go Ahead Eagles (home) and Willem II (away).
