Ivankovic says Persepolis deserved IPL title

Xinhua, April 17, 2017 Adjust font size:

Branko Ivankovic, the head coach of Iran's Persepolis soccer team, said Sunday that they deserved to be crowned Iran Professional League (IPL), Tehran Times daily reported.

"This is my third championship in three different countries. I think Persepolis deserved to win the title because we are the best team in Iran at the moment," Ivankovic said.

"I would like to thank my staff, players, and our supporters who backed us during the league," the Croat added.

On Saturday, Persepolis defeated Machine Sazi of Tabriz to win IPL title with three games to spare.

"We could have scored more goals in this match but our strikers missed their opportunities. We want to win the three remaining matches as well," Ivankovis said.

Persepolis won the title for the third time in IPL which is founded in 2001. Endit
